Kern 555 Wheat
Kern 555 is an open-pollinated wheat for the Rabi season, selected for North Indian conditions where the crop has to stand through late-season wind and still fill the grain.
Field performance
- Maturity: 130–135 days
- Sowing window: 25 October – 30 November (suits both agheti and madhyam sowing)
- Rust: tolerant to brown rust and yellow rust
- Stem: strong — holds up against pre-harvest wind and rain
- Fodder: yields more tudi than common varieties
How to sow
- Seed rate: 40 kg per acre, drill sowing
- Irrigation: 4–6 rounds, normally 5
- Pack size: 20 kg bag
