Kern 110 Coriander

Kern 110 is a slow-bolting coriander for leaf (dhaniya) production — bred to keep giving tender green leaf long after ordinary desi coriander has flowered and stopped.

Why slow-bolting matters

Bolting is the single biggest income killer in leaf coriander. Once temperatures cross 25°C, local desi varieties flower within 25–35 days and the leaf harvest ends. A slow-bolting type holds much longer and lets you take repeat cuttings from the same sowing.

Cutting schedule

• First cut: 30–40 days after sowing, once plants reach 15–25 cm
• Cut at 2–3 cm above ground — this is what drives regrowth
• Subsequent cuts: every 15 days
• Total: 3–4 cuts across 60–90 days

Sowing

• Rabi (main season): mid-October to mid-November — optimal across North India
• Zaid / summer: February–March, with irrigation. Only a slow-bolting variety can hold this window
• Seed rate: 8–10 kg per acre for leaf coriander — denser than seed coriander
• Spacing: rows 20–25 cm, plants 10–15 cm, sowing depth 1.5–2.5 cm
• Pack size: 500 gm

Kern 110 comes pre-split. Each coriander fruit holds two seeds and must be split for good germination — with Kern 110 that work is already done, so the packet goes straight to the field.

Nutrition

• Basal: full phosphorus (12–16 kg P₂O₅/acre) and potash (8 kg K₂O/acre), with FYM incorporated about three weeks before sowing
• Nitrogen: 40 kg per acre, split three ways — half at sowing, then equal portions after the first and second cuttings
• Sulphur: around 20 kg per hectare. This is the one input growers skip, and it directly drives aroma intensity — which is what the mandi pays for

Building a mandi relationship

Sow in staggered lots every 3–5 days. That gives you something to cut every day, which is what premium buyers want — steady daily supply rather than one large flush.
